ExpandRan out of time badly today, so there's a missing hand and no background. Though it does show how I can piecemeal a picture and not follow the standard linear steps. )

Recently found and unpacked my Oceanic Wilderness photograph book, it's a beast over a foot tall and at six and a half pounds, but it has some of the most stunning undersea images one can find of the smaller marine creatures. The one I used today is the Thuridilla lineolata commonly known as the Lined Sea Slug. I also wanted to use a thicker body type again, getting away from the traditionally used thin and slim merfolk while at the same time not making a caricature that's often made of larger body types. And I think I succeeded even though I think I could have gone further with zir and still kept zir's aesthetics.
