A giant of dog, the Scottish Cu Sith is the said to be the size of a bull or cow, has green fur and was known for kidnapping women for the faerie to provide milk to give to their children. As well as for being a harbinger of death. Pronounced 'coo shee' it's name literally means fairy dog.

Ah, this was fun. I'd forgotten how entertaining perspective stuff could be, and I really needed to start working on my list of mythology-to-draw that I wrote near the beginning of this journal. As always, some artistic liberties were taken. I have no clue if the Cu Sith really did rip off people's faces or not, but I figured it certainly had more than enough going for itself that it's certainly a possibility.

My list is here if you're interested. But it's very bare, as in despite being as long as it is, there's only one other pic I've done.

Ack, no! Don't rip my face off!

While I'm not keen on being kidnapped in order to lactate for fey folk, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cu Sith in person, despite the risk. This works until then.

He has pretty eyes.

It amuses me to no end when people portray fairies as </>nice. But if you want to see it and not get taken, just listen for the three barks before death comes. Though that's probably not that appealing either.

And thank you.

I've always had this neutral attitude towards the fey--a "don't target me, and I won't bother you" kind of thing. However, even before my Toxicology class, I knew that everything has some kind of underlying danger; I guess that just carried over into my view on the mythic world.

Also, you're welcome.

It's more of the fact that these incredibly complex beings were degraded into basically what are happy, tiny humans with wings. *shrug* I just find it annoying when mythos are warped like that.

Toxicology class? That's awesome. *puts it on list of things to research on spare time*

Well, I've never heavily mixed mythos w/ popular culture, except in certain cases + usually for personal entertainment's sake; I grew up on older books and dangerous mythic animals. I still think Disney's cute and everything--The Lion King and Gargoyles continue to make me smile; I saw the history while watching the media, so I learned to deal with both.

Specifically, it was Aquatic Toxicology, and both the class and my instructor were fantastic...the only downsides are that since I run on a quarter system, it's just a few months long, and also, I'm a little more afraid of the world than I was before I took the class, but like my instructor said, that's personal risk assessment.

Gargoyles I don't have a problem with, I actually love the series. One of the best things to come out Disney in my opinion, and while they changed some things they did keep to the spirit of the myth. It's just that when someone completely ignores everything in leu of making a buck because they couldn't be bothered is when I get frustrated. And I'm not being as clear as I want to be about my stance on this.

Ah, but I'm a firm believer in the phrase 'knowledge is power'. That, and I have an unhealthy fascination of all things that could potentially kill me.

Ah, I see your point now; that is troubling. *sighs wistfully* I dearly miss that show.

My instructor was awesome; he made the class entertaining...well, seeing as this is me, more entertaining. The exams were killers, and the textbook was a bit out of date, but it was all worth it. (The added bonus is that I can scare people w/out having to make things up.)
