FYI- These are nowhere near completed. They're just getting posted now since I told someone I would. That, and I worry if I don't it'd never happen. They're stubborn afts when it comes to revealing things about themselves, and I'm of the stance that one has to let the characters build themselves without really forcing anything. It takes longer for a character to completely solidify, true, but whatever does show up almost always sticks and stands the test of time.

Name: Sauricons (Group)
Universe: Transformers G1
Faction: Decepticons
Primary Function: Melee Fighters
Gender: Male; and in Torpedo's case, neuter
Optics: Red

Description: Created to counter the Dinobots. Much of their design is a result of the Constructicons trying to one-up the Autobots' team in as many ways as possible, this didn't entirely work out as planned. It unfortunately led to some notable flaws on the other end of the spectrum than what the Dinobots are noted to have. One very distinct example is their complete inability to say pronouns, the words "you" and "I". They usually compensate for this by speaking creatively, avoiding sentences that require those words, but there are times when it really shows. It's a trait that frustrates them to no end when they cannot get around it, they'd sooner speak for one another and sound normal than to be cornered into into exposing their inability to say he/she, him/her, his/hers, I, and 'you'. The plurals 'they', 'their' and 'theirs' is another matter, and the Sauricons exploit this mercilessly. (I'm not too sure about this last part, it's there more as an ease of writing for me than as an accepted character trait)

They were equipped to be as aware of their surroundings as possible. Each Sauricon's dominate senses overlap to cover as large a range as possible. Torpedo is rather reliant on sonar and touch/pressure, Minefield is more tactile and chemical, Wardrum is auditory, Sawblade is olfactory and infrared (low wave visual), and Batteringram leans towards vision and electrical. But because of this, they tend to constantly be distracted by something. As they cannot not notice what's around them, this makes it when they are focused on something all the more poignant.

They share the same three colors: black, white and teal.

Personality: Extremely conscious of how inexperienced they are in the war, they're constantly trying to improve themselves. They're young and they know it. Whether it's physical skills or knowledge, they'll make a game of it to learn what they're missing. Skill games like Gravity Chicken where they'll all cut their anti-gravs while flying and see just how close to the ground they can get before pulling out. It's also led to a bit of hero worshiping of some members of the Decepticon army.

They're pragmatic. While it may be unusual amongst Decepticons (or Transformers in general) none of them are prone to boasting, they won't act as if they know or can do something when they don't. They see no point to it. To the aggravation of some mechs, they're not even embarrassed about it. Though what they can do, they are proud of.

They are also equipped with a sparklings unending curiosity. The only situations in which they won't take the time to go “What's that?” or "Why is that doing that?" is on the battlefield or during a mission, though they might still make note of whatever caught their interest to look up later. They'll never sate their hunger for knowledge, even though their personal interests vary.

They're extremely loyal to the Decepticon cause. Almost to the point of blindly following Megatron and his orders, mostly due to their lack of experience. They assume that with all the vorns of leading the Decepticons he has a far better grasp on any given situation than they, whether or not this is actually true can be up for debate.

Likes: Each other, learning, fighting the Dinobots, fighting the rest of the Autobots, Hotzone, the Constructicons

Dislikes: The Dinobots, the rest of the Autobots, being ignorant, being inexperienced, boredom

Other: Individually they're not as strong or heavy as any of the Dinobots (thanks to limited resources and a pressing concern to keep energon consumption low) but the Sauricons make up for it by being a better fighting unit. Very pack-like in their mentality of each other and how they function as a team, they're not going to get in each other's way. And if they do, they'll keep any aggravation of the incident until the battle is over, if it's even that important.

Alternate Modes: (alphabetically) Charonosaurus, Euplocephalus, Giganotosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Tylosaurus

Tools/Weapons: Fists, claws, alt-modes and specific attributes are preferred. A standard blaster/gun for long range combat, but they're not marksmen.

History: Once again the Dinobots have foiled a plan of Megatrons'. Megatron gets pissed. Megatron, while venting, makes a throwaway comment. The Constructicons hear Megatron. The Constructicons choose to take his comment to spark. Megatron.... meet the Sauricons.

Name: Sawblade
Height:
31 feet

Description: Leader of the Sauricons,. His dominate sense is scent, large olfactory panels make up a lot of the space in his alt-mode's head. These transfer over into his root mode's arms, and while not as efficient when packed together without as many air gaps, it's no issue smelling anything he sticks his hands near.

Personality: The diligent/resolute one. As leader of the Sauricons, Sawblade is driven to make his team the best they can be and to remove the Dinobot threat once and for all. Whether it's through prioritizing their learning focus to make sure they have the most important of things covered first, or making them stop their individual distractions to take part in team drills. Though the fact that they are all driven to improve themselves, no pushing needed, sometimes feelings of inadequacy arise. He's shy towards anyone outside his siblings, but won't let that get in the way of maintaining the team head, a position he takes with complete seriousness. He's soft spoken; compared to the mech he was built to oppose, you almost never hear him raise his voice unless he needs to be heard over something else.

Likes: Has a bit of hero worship towards Onslaught.
Dislikes: Grimlock. Wasting anything; time, materials, ammunition.
Primary Function: Melee Fighter
Secondary Function: Unit Leader
Alternate Mode:
Giganotosaurus

Name: Minefield
Height:

Description:
Largest of the team he towers over most transformers, but it's not a feature that's easily noticed when he is so adept at not drawing attention to himself. He is also the most heavily armored and can take more damage than his siblings. Specializing in

Personality:
The unreadable one. Minefield is a mech that acts open and friendly enough and he actually is, most of the time. To the extent that one would start to think he's softsparked with how rarely he'll be the aggressor, it's easy to forget he's just as strong willed as his siblings. But within that amiable, fade-into-the-background personality lay a Sauricon through and through. He'll smile and laugh with you, patting you on the back while slipping a bomb under your armor. Minefield is also notorious for his ability to wait and wait, and wait. While still young, he has yet to lose his patience with anything. He is the one that grounds the team and makes sure that they don't drive themselves into exhaustion induced stasis trying to do everything at once. And like his namesake, you won't know you've set him off until it's too late. He too, is a quiet mech.

Likes: Bombs and explosives a little more than he should, not that anyone outside his siblings really realize this.
Primary Function:
Melee Fighter
Secondary Function:
Defense
Alternate Mode: Euplocephalus

Name:
Wardrum
Height:

Description:

Personality: The exuberant one. Wardrum is one of the most social of the five, he is also the most well known of the group. It's his self-appointed place in the team to distract the enemy and encourage allies, often through singing Decepticon war songs on the battlefield.

Likes: To sing, even during battle.... well, especially during battle. To mimic sounds to prank his fellow Decepticons, noises like doors opening and closing, footsteps or even other voices. Listening to various sounds as others would music.
Dislikes:
Jazz (those speakers are annoying),
Primary Function: Melee Fighter
Alternate Mode:
Charonosaurus

Tools/Weapons: Whereas Soundwave is a master of radiowaves, Wardrum works with sound itself. Using it as a primary identifier of the world around him.

Name: Torpedo
Height:

Gender: Absolutely neuter, but accepts the male pronoun

Description: If a transformer could be considered limber than Torpedo is definitely one of them, thanks to a flexible alt. Twisting and bending in ways that leave many cringing and and wanting to rub their joints in empathy. The thick helm bands and neck ring are a complex sonar system that allows for a near 360 degree sensor range. They are part of Torpedo's primary sensory array, and the neck ring is directly integrated with his vocalizer. During normal functioning, vision is augmented by the system, leading to greater depth perception and analysis of surrounding materials. The ring can transmit high to low frequency sound waves in all directions while the bands pick up the returning echo.

Personality: The odd one. Tactile, curious, energetic, and probably the most annoying of the lot. Nothing intentionally malicious, just a complete disregard for some basic social norms, including the right way to sit in chairs. If you've ever met a ferret you'll have a rough idea of most of Torpedo's personality.

Likes: Flying/swimming to the point that he uses his pedes more as landing gear than a mode of transportation. Exploring, Draping himself wherever he recharges. Sea life.
Dislikes: Walking, Starscream, cleanser/soap
Primary Function: Melee Fighter
Secondary Function: Aerial Support/Scout
Alternate Mode: Tylosaurus

Tools/Weapons: A complex sonar system housed in the neckring and helm protrusions leaves Torpedo with a soundvision dominate form of sensing the world. If the receivers are deafened or the neck ring damaged then he feels near blind. While Torpedo can see perfectly fine with just his optics, losing his sonar is as effective as taking away a near sighted human's glasses. A sonic pulse is also effective as a makeshift weapon, though due to being integrated with his vocalizer it's not really meant to be used that way so it isn't used often.

Name: Batteringram
Height:
Description:

Personality: The tenacious one. While the whole team possesses a focus on and off the battlefield that can be disturbing in its' intensity, Batteringram is the one who'll keep at it long after what is considered prudent. His ability to spot and exploit weakness is to his credit as long as he knows when to stop and back off. Unfortunately his stubbornness can get in the way when even HE is aware of the futility of the situation.

Likes: Programing, hacking
Primary Function: Melee Fighter
Secondary Function: Defense breaker, physically or through code.
Alternate Mode: Pachycephalosaurus

Trust me, by the time I'm through, each one's going to have a variety of nickname's. And they're all going to be very unhappy with me, too. Batteringram = Butthead. I mean really, he's just asking for it with his alt mode. Though I'm not yet sure who Beavis would be. They may be young, but depending on your head canon/time line, there's always the Aerialbots, Protectobots, Technobots and Wheelie. Odd how most of the youngest are all Autobots, sure there's the Stunticons, but I think they may be either the same age, or just a smidgen older than the Sauricons. Then again, some would call him that if they went after the younger acting/perceived ones as well. Wardroom, ear drum, ward rum. This is what the dictionary suggested as alternate spellings for Wardrum. I'm mighty tempted to call him ear wig, don't ask me why, it's my brain that comes up with these things all on its own.

And that reminds me, what do the Sauricons think of the Technobots? What with Grimlock creating an entire Gestalt on his own.

Yeah, Hotzone gets into a little bit of trouble there, with Red Alert taking him in for questioning. Unsurprisingly, it's many of the science bots that side with him, since they're more sympathetic about wanting to share knowledge and how they're kind of chaffing a bit with the results of the war meaning that so many things they discover/create have to be kept secret.

The whole hand to hand thing may be odd. But then again, there are real life examples like Jack Churchill, (http://www.cracked.com/article_17019_5-real-life-soldiers-who-make-rambo-look-like-pussy.html) who takes the whole concept even further. Check out his Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Churchill), and here I though my family had a bad habit with automatically wanting to look down a weapon's barrel, at least those were handguns, and unloaded. And, well, at least they don't get into arguments with their weapons like Hawkeye from MASH did. Which would be a rather...interesting spectacle if their weapons were built in like you see in Movie verse.

Considering that my sibs and I would call the domeheads buttheads when we were little without the insult connotations, that may be trickier to accomplish. Sometimes the head you're residing in has it's uses, and he's just amused at the attempt. It also helps that I've never seen Beavis and Butthead. The Stunticons are older, and the Sauricons keep insisting that they're three years old, but doesn't fit into the TF timeline and it's giving me grief. While I'm guessing they mean at the time of the old movie, I'm not certain. I think that most of the younger ones are all Autobots because people have a hard time seeing a child as inherently evil, as they keep referring to the Decepticons as. And I like Ear Wig, I'm keeping it even if I don't know where I'll use it yet.

Disbelief (yeah right, stop pulling our wires), hurt (because they're better than the Dinobots fraggit), and then anger (how DARE he). There's a little superior pride there too, since Grimlock made smart mechs to do a job he couldn't. *shrug* Honestly? They try to ignore that the Technobots exist. But since that never works, at least the knowledge as to who their creator is. And I'm under the impression that they don't know Grimlock was an undeniable genius at the time.

Handgun or cannon, both will kill you should they go off, one's just bigger. Well... since there are gun!bots in canon, seeing a mech or femme shouting at their weapon wouldn't be too unusual. And great for crack if someone left a decoy for their handler to find and shout at. Which, would actually make those instances where their gun is just a gun, and has always been a gun all the more laugh/facepalm worthy.
