I'm a new parent!

Well, reptile parent. :P Human babies don't appeal to me.

Shahan is a unisex Persian name meaning King or Queen, at least according to a name site I found. Persian because that's the part of the world that Leopard Geckos are native to. Unisex because it's only when they're closer to maturity that you can tell the sexes apart, and at two to three months old, that's a while to wait for a name. And specifically Shahan because it sounds nice and was the only one that fit with what's been seen of their personality over the few days that they've been here.
Been busy otherwise (beyond the standard freakout and paranoia of making any wrong move with a new pet), and have been wrangling my art drive into submission for all the things I need to complete that have fallen by the wayside. Also fell in love all over again with the '90s animated Batman series, it's even better now that I'm older and can appreciate the lack of a lot of Fail cliches and tropes. And I got a new mug; and while I don't need any more mugs (remind me to photograph them sometime) this one was cast from a real Tyrannosaur tail vertebra and is huge even after the baking shrinkage. Found it at a secondhand shop for a couple of bucks and even though Tyrannosaurs aren't among my favorite dinosaurs, it's fast become one of my favorite mugs.
And if anyone is interested in trying out 3D programs, currently there's a limited promotional going on of Daz 3D software in which you can download three different (and expensive) programs for free.
One last thing. Anyone else going to participate in the media March Blackout protest?

on 2012-02-26 07:53 am (UTC)Awesome mug, and such a cool concept.
Thanks for the link about the blackout, I hadn't heard of it. I'll probably participate by default, as I only really consume fan-made media nowadays, or DVDs I already own.

on 2012-02-28 07:00 am (UTC)<3 I love my mug. <3 When I finally found the guy who made it I found his site too, there's a ton of paleo and geologic themed pottery and the like that he's done.
Yeah, I'll probably participate by default too. But I figured I'd spread the word since it includes secondhand products as well, which is how I get most of my stuff.
