Day Twenty Five

Rotary is my feel good OC, he's optimistic to the extreme. Ask him the glass half full.half empty question and he be pleased that there's anything in the glass at all, as well as commenting on how useful that glass is even without anything in it. So he tends to get drawn more than my other OCs simply because he's happy things aren't worse. And yes, it does annoy others when he's always smiling even if he is sensitive to the situation at hand.
Finally got the crown to the tooth that I had the root canal for today, the procedure took a lot longer than they thought it would as well as being more expensive than the estimate they gave yesterday thanks to a little decay under the temporary cap they had to clean out. Brush your teeth kids, while getting the root canal for a tooth and the subsequent patching they do is not the nightmare of pain it's said to be, the pain to your wallet is.
Also, the parents are finally going through with the divorce. They've been flip flopping on the issue for a several months now, going to both extreme ends of the decision within short periods of time and simply adding a lot of drama on top of all that's happened lately.
Some good news, since I've started applying the antiseptic to Onge's mouth the swelling has gone way down. She no longer looks like her mouth is too big for her skull, and the black spots aren't nearly so dark. Though she does still have a ways to go, and I still want to get her to a proper vet..

on 2011-01-26 05:45 am (UTC)yay for getting the crown put on, but boo for the cost. i'm glad that, overall, your root canal experience wasn't a nightmare. the one my mom had done a few years back was horrible; the anesthetic didn't work right and then the pain from the procedure triggered a migraine that lasted days.
that's a real shame about your parents. divorce isn't an easy decision, even if the American people seem to see it as an easy out. sadly, though, sometimes it really is the best option. i wish it had all worked out better for them.
Hooray that Onge's mouth rot is doing better! getting her in to a vet is probably still a good idea, as you say, but it's great that she is doing better.

on 2011-01-26 06:21 am (UTC)Oh the anesthetic didn't work right for me either, but compared to the horror movie scene I kept expecting it was a breeze. One of the reasons it's costing so much is that the one's who worked on it were specialists, so they really knew what they were doing. And as wallet hurting as this has been, I'd rather shell out now than to have to go back thanks to slipshod work.
It is a shame, but we're all adults and it's their life to make that choice for. What really got to everyone was them see-sawing heavily back and forth... drama, drama, drama. To be a glitch, I'm just glad it's a done decision now.
What's really nice is that there's one really close to where heslestor lives, as most herp vets are all in lower Michigan, away from where I live.

on 2011-01-26 06:57 am (UTC)i'm very glad you didn't have the nightmare or horror movie experience with your root canal. i keep remembering how my mom's went and am rather terrified at the idea of ever having one myself. and you're definitely right about qualty being greater than overall price; my brother just lost the cap over the top of his front tooth (it covered and sealed a tooth he broke as a child) because the adhesive just let go the other night. we were not happy, as the cap was put on this summer.
i don't think you're being a glitch by being relieved about the divorce decision. that sort of drama is so hard to deal with, especially when it Just Keeps Going. knowing that it's not going to be there now will be helpful for everyone.
woot! that's awesome! i sense a bit of double-duty for the next trip you make down to see heslestor now. ^_^

It's very nice. Onge-Mokoko's got an appointment scheduled for monday, I was rather surprised with how quickly I was able to get one in.
