January Challenge 2014: Day 14 Commissions

Alright, so I think I mentioned during my cat posts that I've been without reliable transportation for a while. Well I've got an update on that. Since this time last month my car’s been at the mechanic, refusing to start with any sort of predictability. Now I’ve got a great mechanic so this isn’t an issue with them, they’re actually cutting the cost some for me because this has been a such a mystery problem. It's been an issue that has plagued me the last few winters and just now has it been figured out.

Problem is, even with the discount, it’s still going to cost me $740. I wasn't planning on opening commissions for a while yet, but right now I need to. Please see below for the details of what I'm offering. Now, since I am strapped for cash, I am willing to be flexible with what is added to any one piece before adding to the price.

Simple Full Body:
$3 - Sketch
$5 - Lineart
$10 - Lineart and colors


Complex Full Body:
$20 -$25+ Depending on complexity



Simple Bust/Profile: $15 - $20+


Complex Bust/Profile: $20 - $25+





Now, I mostly used dragons from a couple of games as my examples (and a couple of my own merfolk for the busts) but I am very open to subject matter. Both fandom and non-fandom subjects are accepted. And I can color a couple of different ways.

For Fandom Stuff:
I'm removing the block I usually have on my needing to know the canon, please just keep in mind that I'll be faster with those I do know. But with as badly as I need my vehicle back, I'm not going to limit myself that way. Though if I don't know it, I may ask you to provide reference material if what you want isn't easy to find. And please note that robots and other inorganic things take longer for me to complete than organic subjects.

I've recently done works for Transformers, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, Magi Nation and Flight Rising. And because Transformers take a different approach than what I've shown, I'm including a few more examples.

Giftart of Rumble and Frenzy doing recon at an Autobot base for Eerian
My fan design for the Alloygator, a creature mentioned in passing in the comics
And a giftart/bribe for Ultharkitty for writing Ma-Grrr fic


For Non-Fandom Stuff:
I'm really good at animals and nature themed subjects. So pets and landscapes are also acceptable subject matter. You want a cute kitten playing with string? I can do that. You want a cute tarantula playing with string instead? Or a dinosaur? I can do that too. Mythology based works are also up my alley should that interest you too.

Other Subject Matter Stuff I'll Do:
OCs, as long a reference pic is provided.
Blood and gore, even robotic "blood" and gore.
Pairings of any sort, minus underage individuals
Erotica, that is sensual situations without actually showing anything. This will include most kinks.

Stuff I Won't Do: (and I reserve the right to add to this list)
Anything that'll trigger my Maimouphobia. Look it up and please don't ask.
Explicit porn
Extreme kinks
Designing work, such as characters

How to Pay:
Currently, I'll be accepting payments only through Paypal. Please select the -Services- option when making your payment, this is to prevent problems concerning the fact that I have no physical Goods to ship. (yet anyway) I will also not expect payment too far ahead of when I expect I can work on your commission.

What to Expect From Me:
A discussion and lots of questions to work out exactly what and how you want your piece to be like
A WIP pic of the more complex pictures to continue making sure it's in line with what you want
Minor corrections after the fact if I make an obvious mistake, no charge


If you have any questions please ask. There's no pressure to go through with a commission if you need to know something I didn't already include up above. I've probably forgotten a point or two, so you'll actually be doing me a favor there.

Hello and thank you for your interest!

I'd like to add $10-$15 for an additional character in the busts depending on complexity, but I'm willing to be flexible. Now, just so you know I'm not a WoW player, I'm not going to be as familiar with in world expectations than with some of the fandoms I'm in. Is your OTP canon or of your player characters?

And I apologize, I don't have many examples of fur up. My skill ranges from a stylized look to the heavily detailed.

Thanks for the quick response. :) For the pose, I was thinking something like this or this, but chest up rather than full body. And I really liked the way you did fur in this pic here, just with a bit more detail in the shading/coloring. Hopefully that gives you an idea how complex the piece will be.

My characters are not gameworld canon, but I have a ton of screen captures of them. A TON. So I should be able to supply any reference images you need.

You're welcome. Your characters sound to be like such sweeties. And I can do the fur like that and still be comfortable with the $35 total fee. If that is alright with you, I can always show you a preview of the fur when I get to the color stage for your conformation if that will make you more comfortable too.

And that's great. I would at the very least like a front shot and a side shot of each of your characters. And since I know that customization of MMORPGS can sometimes be limited, if there are any extra little things you mentally have attached to your characters, feel free to let me know and I'll try to add them.

I'm part of a whole guild of cuddly badass Pandaren (and a handful of worgen); we could probably keep you busy drawing panda snuggles forever, especially if you're open to things like mpreg/nursing. *can think of at least two more things I'd like, four if mpreg is on the table* So, if you don't fill up on commissions before this pic is done, I will be back.

I will go through my screenies tonight and find some good references for you to work from. Is it easier for you if I link them here, or email them? And do you prefer payment now, on completion, or 50/50 split?

Oh geez. But if you really like what I produce, I'm very much willing to continue drawing cuddly pandas for you all. And while mpreg isn't really my thing, it's not so much that I'm pushing it off the table. What do you have in mind? And is the nursing with the mpreg or separate? (you have me in convolutions of squee at the concept of more commissions, thank you)

Thank you, it'd probably be best to link them here. And don't be afraid to put more pictures than you think I'd need, I'm of the stance that you can't have too many references. As for payment, how about right after you approve the sketch?

How much for a full-body, dino-accurage Beast Wars Megatron and Dinobot? I do love your dinosaurs.

For a simple full body, I'd go for the $15 to $20 range. For the complex, $35 - $40 would be my price, though I can always go for a lower fee if the colors are simpler. I can also do something in between and price accordingly if you want.

Now, the wiki says his alt is a Velociraptor, but is there a larger dromeosaurid you'd like him to be based on instead should you want to keep closer to canon sizes? (Also, what's your stance on dinosaur feathers?)

Hi there! I'm not sure if you do stuff exactly like this, but I'd like to commission something that will go on a banner to promote TF-Valentines this year. It would be fairly small, G1 Cosmos holding a valentine, to be put on a banner no more than 600x300 pixels in size. Just something simple and cute. I will be happy to pay whatever price you ask. :]

Initially, I wasn't going to do design work since it takes me longer to do such things, and I needed the extra funds as quickly as possible. But I've got enough of commissions in my queue now that I can relax and open up to fully designing the look of a character.

I think that you might be the last one I accept before closing commissions for the foreseeable future. I'm to the point that I need to limit my workload now. (and here I was afraid I wouldn't have enough of a workload :D)

I’m not really sure what I want, since I have a few ideas… my question would be: Do you do tribal-like tattoo commissions? Not like dragon tribal tattoos, though. It’d be more specific and kinda Transformers related…
If not, I’d go for a Complex Full Body commission with one Transformers character - or two characters if you are up for it. :)

Ugh, hope you've been getting some better sleep. That's currently my problem too, but in the case of bad dreams instead of any lack.

No problem!. And repairs have been completed already, but in doing so I'm in the hole since I borrowed some money too. So these commissions are still very much needed in helping paying that person back and refilling my emergency funds. I should probably make an updated post on that. :/

I used to love drawing tribal-like designs before I learned how problematic the generic 'tribal' can be. In part because my partner has a good deal of native blood and because I've been doing a lot of reading on native peoples this past year. I guess I should ask, what kind of specific are you looking at? (In short, I would love to but only if we find a way that I would be comfortable with)

If we can't figure something out for the above, than yes, I can do a complex full body with a potential second character added.

And I'm going to be busy with the commission I have for a bit longer than I estimated, I've got a couple that are NOT cooperating right now and it's driving me up the wall with frustration.

In case you still are. The “Tribal” wouldn’t be a real one, and more like, I’m not sure to explain it. Like a very abstract silhouette of a space shuttle. And not really with “round” tribal-like things, but more edgy? I’m not even sure if that makes sense. *headdesk* Like a subtle-obvious space shuttle silhouette.

Hello, it's been a while.

Yes, I still am interested in the commission. Though as of right now, it'll have to wait until April if you're alright with waiting some more. This last month has been an absolute nightmare and I can't afford to put anything more on my plate right now. TBH I actually forgot about this in the whirlwind of everything, so sorry about that.

I'm still willing to at least talk about it though, and I think I know what you're trying to get at. A sort of graphic art blocky style? One that doesn't try too hard to be exact to what it's representing? (I'm guessing Blast Off here?) I'm not completely sure, do you have any examples of a similar look?
