Have had this sitting unfinished for the longest time in my files, and with nothing really clicking for today's piece getting an incomplete pic done seemed to be the next best thing.

The concept was to design a four legged dragon that could conceivably fly. So instead of the foreleg musculature attaching to the breastbone, like you see in most every depiction of this kind of dragon, the wing muscles do giving it more strength for it's important flight limbs. The front 'legs' are intended to be modified and highly specialized ribs, thus no real hand or foot to speak of.

And I really need to just find something other than photobucket and their jpeg converting ways to upload pictures, all the nice blood details are lost.

Thank you. *nods* It's still not quite there yet, but I think it's a step in the right direction in adding some realism to these dragons. A lot of times it just bugged me when I can't see how a four legged and winged dragon could actually fly using general biological aerodynamics.

Also, forgot to mention that the modified ribs sort of float over the flight muscles, so they're not terribly strong should they have had a socket to attach to.

And then lacking a hand that could hold food makes it even harder to be a clean eater. But even the messiest eater isn't going to be completely covered in it's food, so I think I caught a nice balance here. (wow, this got wordy)
