The Photovoltaic Cat or, as is known by domesticated models, the Photovoltaic Pussycat is a native species of Cybertron capable of generating it's own energy through solar power. As with most creatures found on our planet, it's origins are unclear.

As popular as they are as pets, very little has gone into studying them. As always, where do they come from? How is it they can sustain themselves almost solely on solar power? What kind of solar energy do they use? Why do they behave as they do? It is my goal as a member of this science academy find answers to these puzzles, and to find more vital questions that need to be explored.

[I borrowed a couple things [livejournal.com profile] heslestor has in their headcanon (some I haven't shown yet) and tweaked them to fit my own headcanon. I wasn't sure as to where to start with these, but this feels like a good intro. And this is similar to what I have for the moosebot study, so I hope this format works. Which I should just start posting parts of, I've been refraining as I know I'm still working on solidifing all cybertronian critters, but I think I'm just going to warn that there'll be modifications and changes as I try to get them just right. As changing and all over the place as the actual canon is, I want to at least have these kept to a standard.]

I've always loved the look and feel of journal style books, so I'm really looking forward to seeing where this all goes. You know, not too long ago I was wondering how one would go about collecting solar energy from the different types of stars there are, mainly with how exactly one would differ from another. I also really like the idea of Cybertron either revolving around a blue dwarf or binary stars. It'd certainly be interesting to see how the photocats would react to pulsar stars.

The only thing I could really think of to improve this is to add in the little details, like adding in the different elements for whatever Rotary used as an image capture. Kind of like how the pictures look when taken with whatever image capture equipment they have, whether it be external or their own optics. Kind of like the stuff seen in the Movie verse when looking through Frenzy's eyes. Maybe even their version of a coffee mug stain on paper, which would be, uh, I dunno, an energon cube stain on a datapad screen? Or even a datapad with all of the little buttons and such on it, being held by Rotary or another scientist. Just some suggestions.

*notices sites in link section**is in glee with the list of sensors* I...am going to get absolutely nothing done today now.

*snirk* As long as I keep at it, I have so many ideas for so many different things fandom and not, that getting distracted is a given. *crosses fingers* Here's to my remembering it from time to time at the very least. But this gives me an excuse to research solar energy and stars, not that I needed one in the first place...

Ooooh, I like. That would really add to the series, I'll try to keep it in mind when I do the next one.

That list is made of awesome, no doubt about it. (There is something very heady when you know you've wasted someone's day through internet links)
