Got poked for the different moosebot wings types/variations. While it was originally for the small differences for the Titanium Moosebot I already have...

So now there's at least three types of moosebots flying around in my head. The long thin wing is a shape better equipped for long distances and speed in the biological world. And the short broad wing is better for manuverability, though I might drop the tail rudders completely since the one on the head makes 'em redundent. It's theorized that the large crests on many pterosaurs were there for that very reason and with the rudder in the front makes for tighter turns than the same in the back.

They weren't nearly as stubborn as the first one, and I only picked the colors to fill out the color wheel.

Those long wings are EPIC, I love your work with the Moosebots... They are so massive, and to imagine them zooming around the sky O.O

XD Thank you! I know, they're HUGE. And here I thought I drew the other moosebots with long wings. *Pfft* Sadly I think my TF muse is claiming that these two versions are extinct and the last group which is the one I draw all the time as endangered.

But they are huge. As in holy-crap commercial airliner huge. *is now tempted to draw a moosie with a human*

Hehe, the people could be peaking out of one's eye like a Window seat.

*shudders* Now that's just wrong. As in Acanthamoeba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acanthamoeba_keratitis) wrong. *resists urge to wash their eyes*

And how the hell do you keep commenting within minutes of a post?

Aww... I wasn't trying to be gross... I just thought it was clever ^^; A person can't verily well sit upon the thing and survive!

I have LJ ESP

You were being clever. I just have the misfortune of having a brain full of many an odd creature, a good number of which have that squick factor that it associates to before any other part of a message seeps through.

*laughs*

That first one looks like an epic cross between a shark and some sort of sighthound. Just the smooth lines sharpness of this one is a really great look. Makes me just want to pet it.

The outline of the broad wing one looks so much like a butterfly to me. Still, love the crest you gave it, the crested pterosaurs were always a favorite.

And the little sketch of the broad wing one in the upper right corner makes me think its wading in some sort of lake or river, since the Rust Sea can't be the only standing bit of liquid on all of Cybertron. Maybe looking for some sort of food that only grows in that area that's more nutritious or something compared to what it gets elsewhere. Much like Earth moose do. Though I'm not sure how well that would go about with how close the engine opening would be to the liquid and I doubt it would do the moosebot much good if said liquid got into it like that, even if it was pure energon.

My TF muse is in agreement with yours. Going so far as to thinking that by the end of the war, there's only very small amounts of wildlife on Cybertron, if there's even any left at all. The only ones that may be in any type of healthy condition are ones that have ended up on other planets. Either in zoos or simply having hitched a ride and escaped the craft they were on.

It's probably a good thing you've picked such a large alt-mode then, it offers more protection. Especially since you have the urge to pet a lot of the critters I draw out.

The butterfly similarity hit me as well. And I'm glad I was finally able to place a something on them that resembled the antlers of our giant deer. (it's tempting to go and place it on the moosebots I've been drawing all this time, but I'm afraid of the continuity errors)

It was supposed to be laying down with its' legs and hooves all tucked up nice and neat, but the wading definitely fits better. I've been playing with the idea that the opening can iris close, but that would erase some of the recharging behaviors they've been using. Since I'm positive that there's a lot of little life forms they don't want crawling into their engine, they sleep standing up or completely curled up with the openings closed off by their own bodies. And introducing the iris, as logical and desirable it is, would get rid of what I've had in my head for the longest time. *sigh* Decisions, decisions...

That's exactly what happened in my headcanon. What's really sad is that the in-between moosebot was saved ONLY because it was easier to catch than the others. What do you think that nondescript planet/moon/protoplanet Drumlin lives on is for :D I also have in my headcanon that it's a robotic version of malnutrition that killed em off long before their access to energon dried up. Since all I can see are them crashing to the ground with brittle, disintegrating broken wings because they could no longer physically handle what they were designed to do. *is sad because some of them survive their fall, if only for a little while*

I have both size AND stealth on my side. I'd still be small compared to a moosebot though, wouldn't I?

Pffft, at least you're aware of any continuity errors and trying to keep them to a minimum. The same thing couldn't be said for canon.

Hmmm, they could still keep that as a sleeping behavior. Maybe because keeping the iris open would allow them to share heat better while being positioned like that would keep out anything unwanted. Or where recharging like that is more of a social thing as well. I've picked up some good ideas from watching a vid about the Mars land rovers.

The malnutrition would make sense, since their self-repair systems would have to be better than mechs since they don't exactly have medics and the like. So they'd have to heal everything on their own, by getting the minerals and other things they need by consuming it. And once those sources of nutrition are gone, their bodies follow rather quickly. Them being shipped off planet reminds me of the one Star Wars book I have. It's full of a bunch of alien life forms from across the galaxy, it even includes things like pet markets and circuses and animals escaping captivity and surviving on their own. The main one though, are the animals that were shipped off Alderaan before it was destroyed, making the animals all but extinct except for the small numbers on other worlds. Mostly the Thranta. Moosebots dwarf all but the largest of mechs. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that are as large or larger are Skyfire (who just has the height), Omega Supreme, Sixshot, and the gestalt combined forms.

*grin* I try.

Sounds good, I'll see what I can do with it. The chin flap I figure is filled with all sorts of air sensors. Which allow the moosebot to immediately close the iris/turn off their engine if whatever is in the atmosphere could damage their inner workings. Moosebots are skilled enough fliers that loosing their propulsion won't make them crash, or even be deterred.

The way I see it is with the escalation of the war, certain materials became higher in demand. Especially those that don't wear down when exposed to extreme cold (space vehicles and weapons being in high production), so all the easily accessible resources are harvested by the Transformers. The Moosebots, who've used these places for countless eons are suddenly left without, and since they never go underground they can't make use of what can be found there. I also figure that the Moosebots' demand for these minerals is lessened when off Cybertron, where they don't have to deal with acid rain eroding their armor. *blinks* ...I think I have that book, Star Wars: A Field Guide right?
